Volunteer Opportunities
Every Volunteer Hour Builds A Home Faster
Construction Volunteers*
With Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, you have the opportunity to volunteer in your community. We welcome people with any skill level to volunteer with us, even beginners. On-site construction leaders train volunteers in all aspects of building. Habitat has a variety of needs for skill-based volunteering, but no experience is ever required to volunteer with us. Please let us know of any talents you may have in our skill section when you register with us!
Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to volunteer. Volunteers ages 16-17 may only sign up for opportunities that specify 16+ and need to volunteer alongside a parent/legal guardian/adult group leader while working with us. All volunteers are required to be registered and signed up for an opportunity in order to participate.
*Volunteer opportunities, including for the Habitat Green Freedom Subdivision, will begin in late Fall of 2024. Register on our volunteer website today to receive email notifications when volunteer opportunities are available. Please click below to register.
Court Ordered Community Service
We are currently not taking volunteers for community service hours. We will resume building in late Summer of 2024, please check back then. Please reach out to other non-profit organizations in the Kane County area.
Matching Gifts
Ever wish you could multiply your gift to Habitat for Humanity? Here’s a way — employer matching contributions. Thousands of companies have Matching Gift programs which double, or even triple individual, tax-deductible contributions made by their employees. Check with your employer to determine if they offer a matching gifts program.
Planned Giving
Planned gifts may qualify for significant tax deductions. Giving options include bequests, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts. To find out how you can financially contribute to Habitat for Humanity and provide a lasting legacy, contact Jeff at 630-294-8575 or j.barrett@foxvalleyhabitat.org.
Gift of Stocks or Bonds
A charitable gift of stocks or bonds provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously sharing with others. A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation. In addition to helping Habitat, you may diversify away from low-basis, long-term holdings into other assets that will better suit your current needs. If you would like to discuss a gift of stocks or bonds, contact Jeff at 630-294-8575 or j.barrett@foxvalleyhabitat.org.
