Habitat Green Freedom Sponsorship

In our new Habitat Green Freedom neighborhood located at 1921 Jericho Rd in Aurora, there will be seventeen net-zero homes built with solar panels to further our cause of sustainable affordable housing solutions for low to moderate-income families.

While we can control the mortgages of our homes, there are other monthly bills that we can’t control. Things like property taxes and utility bills can affect the long-term affordability of housing. To address this concern, we are partnering with Nicor Gas to build a neighborhood of homes that will not only be solar-powered but will also use 98% energy-efficient appliances and technology

Not only will this help with affordability, but it also helps the environment. The houses are estimated to produce enough solar power to fulfill all of the house’s needs and also put extra energy back to the grid each month.

This endeavor can’t be done alone. The community has come together to support this new neighborhood with donations of materials to build these homes. We currently have over a million dollars of in-kind donations to Habitat Green Freedom! Local companies have donated everything from light fixtures to roofs. We also need monetary donations as well. If you would like to sponsor a home, please contact Barbara Zegiel b.zegiel@foxvalleyhabitat.org.

Below is a list of the companies that have committed to donate products and services for this revolutionary new subdivision. However, we still need so much more to complete these homes for our families!
