About Us
About Habitat for Humanity
We are a Habitat for Humanity non-profit affiliate in the Fox Valley community. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide, and work in partnership with people of all faiths and races to develop communities for people in need by building and renovating houses, while creating homeownership opportunities based on the premise of providing a hand up; not a hand out. As an affiliate, we are a grass roots organization that is independently operated under the greater Habitat Covenant. We independently coordinate all aspects of Habitat home building in our area with fundraising, building site selection, partner family selection and support, house construction, and mortgage servicing. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
All Are Welcome
Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion.
As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
About Habitat for Humanity International
Founded in Americus, Georgia, Habitat for Humanity works in more than 70 countries and have helped more than 39 million people improve their living conditions since 1976.
Habitat works together with families, local communities, volunteers and partners from around the world so that more people are able to live in affordable and safe homes. Advocacy efforts focus on policy reform to remove systemic barriers preventing low-income and historically underserved families from accessing adequate, affordable shelter.
Vision
Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity will work toward eliminating housing inequality stemming from poverty in the Fox Valley area. We will build affordable houses, better lives, stronger families and safer communities through partnerships with community residents, churches, civic organizations, corporations and municipalities throughout the Fox Valley area.
Goals
Fox Valley Habitat has proudly built 71 quality homes in our 34 year history. 71 families equal more than 200 people that we have directly impacted. But… there are many, many more families in the Fox Valley community that would greatly benefit from partnering with us. Two homes a year is good, but why not three or five? And when we get to five, why not 10? Why not 20?
